8.08 am
jeon jeongguk
3rd person point of viewdon't let go
when he wakes up from his slumber
she's standing in front of the window
peeping in between the splits of the curtains
with her back faced towards himjeongguk blinks away the tears that had began
to slip down his cheeks
he must've had a bad dream
he shuffles up, running his fingers through his hairshe must've heard him
because she turns around and her eyes widen
rushing to his side to feel his body temperature
"thank god you're a little better""much better" he insists
although the throbbing pain he's
beginning to feel in every part of his body
is intensifying with every syllable
that escapes his lipsbut he hates seeing that frown on her face
hates seeing how she's so worried
hates the sadness and pity in her beautiful eyes
they don't belong therebecause more than anything
he wants to see her happy
because she deserves to bethey pack up and get breakfast
from a mini cafe downstairs
and get ready to leave for busan
with haru in the driver's seat this time"how many things do we have to do left?"
he asks
and she scrunches her nose
adorable, he thinks"two" she eventually replies
"just two left and we're done for good!"
he can hear the slight tremble in her voice
as if she's trying to sound happy
that it's going to be over
but he feels that she's not"the lantern festival" she says softly
"it's tomorrow night"what happens after tomorrow night?
he doesn't want to think about it
he can't bear toin the end, all he manages to blurt out is a simple
"i can't wait"
he misses the small smile that appears on her face
and his heart breaks a little insideshe sighs audibly and leans back on the driver's seat
"how are you feeling now?"
she asks
noticing his lack of movementhe decides to be honest
because she wouldn't believe him
if he told her he was fine
"terrible, but tolerable"she nods uncertainly
keeping her eyes on the roadgrowing tired of the tension in the car
jeongguk reaches out and turns on the radio
and the soft and soothing voice of james arthur
fills the carhe sees the smile on her face growing again
and he hums to the tune of
say you won't let go"i met you in the dark
you lit me up""you made me feel as though
i was enough"
she joins in, and their voices fit together
creating beautiful harmonythe snow falls agaisnt the windows of the car
and it's cold outside, but the warmth
radiating from within the laughter and joy
inside this tiny car
is enough to make jeongguk feel
like he's at home
